The object of the competition is to develop three plots in the Icon Urbanisation, owned by Urbania International, compilingof nearly 60,000 square meters, located in the east of Marbella.
The Association DOM3, has just started organising the II International Architecture Award DOM3 PRIZE that will be presented next June. This award, aimed at architects and architectural firms worldwide saw its first edition in June 2014. The winners, a team formed by architects Simón Francés Martínez y Judith Sastre de Arce, from Francés + Sastre Studio Architects, designed a futuristic villa in the urbanization La Zagaleta for which they were awarded a prize of € 40,000.
According to the current president of DOM3, the Landscape Architect Laura Pou, the aim of this new edition of the II International Architecture Award DOM3 PRIZE is to surpass the first edition of 2014. The promotor, Urbania International, which manages the Icon urbanisation in Marbella, will be the main sponsor of this new event organised by DOM3. Contestants must, in this case, present a project to develop three plots located in Santa Clara, in the eastern area of Marbella. The surface area of plots is approximately 60,000 square meters. The exact details of the contest are currently being finalized by the DOM3 team.
According to the planning proposed by DOM3 the official rules of the contest for the II International Architecture Award DOM3 PRIZE will soon be publicly presented and will be distributed to professionals, public administrations and universities within the sector, among other institutions. Subsequently there will be a call asking for submissions of work & according to the planning this will probably be completed by the end of May 2016.
The next part of the process will be the deliberation by the jury that will last until June, date in which the gala will be held and the II International Architecture Award DOM3 PRIZE of 60,000 € divided between several awards will be presented along with the young designers award.
Professionals committed to Quality
DOM3, Business Association for Homes of exceptional quality, is composed of a total of 27 companies all related to the design, development, construction and marketing of high-end homes that are mainly located in Marbella, Estepona and Benahavis. The objective of the association DOM3 is to create initiatives that promote the improvement of competitiveness of companies in the sector and influence government departments so that quality in capital letters becomes the motor of industry in the area.
In 2014 the association organised the first International Architecture Award DOM3 PRIZE, with a budget of € 40,000 and the opportunity to build a house in the La Zagaleta. The award ceremony was attended by Jaime García-Legaz Ponce, Secretary of State for Trade and industry, Marta Blanco, Director General of Turespaña and Juan Van Halen, Director General of Architecture, Housing and Land.
Similarly, in April 2015 DOM3 organized the Strategic Forum DOM3 a vision for the future of high-end homes at the Auditorium Philip VI in Estepona. In which the Present and Future of Residential Tourism was discussed. This event was a resounding success with high participation from professionals within the sector. In attendance was the director of Turespaña, Marta Blanco, the President of the Provincial Government of Malaga, Elijah Bendodo, the President of the Association of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol, Margarita Cid, area mayors and other authorities.
