Rafael de La-Hoz (1955, Cordoba, Spain) graduated as an Architect in the ETSAM. For two decades now, Rafael has been running his own architecture studio, a very active firm with great international projection.

Well aware of the evolution of architecture in the city and environmentally conscious, he has achieved the LEED PLATINUM certificate in green building (known worldwide) for some of his projects as well as many other national and international awards such as the MIPIM Award 'for the best building in the world', the International Biennial of Buenos Aires or the American Architecture Award from the Chicago Athenaeum (USA).

One of his most recent projects has been nominated for the Contemporary Architecture Prize of the European Union, the Mies Van der Rohe Award 2015.

Honorary Member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Chairman of the Cultural Advisory Council of the Spanish savings bank Cajasur Foundation, Patron of the Contemporary Architecture Foundation and member of the Editorial Board of the German magazine The New Arch, he has been invited as a juror and speaker by different institutions and universities such as the Federal Institute of Technology ETH in Zurich, the Shanghai Tongji University, l'Ecole Nationale d'Architecture de Rabat or the AEDES Gallery in Berlin.

His style in architecture is characterized by the pursuit of technological innovation. Among his most significant achievements and most recent work we can be find the ‘Rey Juan Carlos I’ Hospital, the Repsol Campus, the Cultural Center 'Daoíz and Velarde', the Lecture Building for the University of Cordoba, Telefonica's District C, Endesa headquarters, the 'Gateway' building and the Tower of Hercules in the Bay of Algeciras.
